Oil Pressure Gauge Past 80. It's completly all the way to the right way past the 80 mark. I have a 2004 silverado 1500 that my oil pressure gauge on my cluster is maxing out.

I just bought an used 2003 escalade and the oil pressure gauge is pegged all the way to the right showing 80 psi whenever engine is running, and it goes to zero when engine is shut off. Over the past years accurate instruments has millions of gauges over the world, it is with pleasure. I saw a similar posting else where but the op never posted how he fixed the problem.

It's completly all the way to the right way past the 80 mark. The gauge should never read very high when you’re not driving because the engine should be fairly cool due to inactivity.

A psi over 80 is usually considered too high for the engine to properly be protected from damage. If its reading low oil pressure i would first change your oil and filter.a clogged oil filter will cause your oil pressure to drop.also remove your pressure sending unit and hook up a direct oil pressure guage to see what your actual pressure is.its very possible that your oil pump could be bad.those would be the most probable reasons for low oil pressure.the engine shut.
